introduction to glass fusing – 2 days.

by the end of this two day workshop you will know how to fuse glass. you will know enough to set yourself up on your own with your own kiln and save yourself hours of expensive self learning. you will try out several different techniques and set your own kiln schedules.  all materials and lunch included as well as ongoing support. finished items available for collection 7 – 10 days later or posted by arrangement.  dates arranged to suit you. to check dates before booking pop me an email see full details below.

This workshop can run over the two consecutive days but I’m quite happy to split the days over a couple of weeks, half days or evenings (no lunch on those!)

congratulations you have found the right place

your two-day workshop will fully equip you to design, create, fire and slump your beautiful own work. at the end of the two days you will know all and basics – including using your kiln – and be able to work independently.

(supported studio hire available after the workshop if you don’t have your own studio – yet!). 

on this 2 day workshop you will make a number of items, using specialist glass, to learn how to use a variety of skills and techniques. you will then design and make your own piece and write your own kiln schedule, so you are confident that you can work on your own in the future.

By the end of the workshop you will have achieved the following:

  • you will know how to keep safe when working with glass

  • you will understand the properties of glass and firing what to consider when designing your work

  • you will know how to cut glass

  • you will be familiar with the different elements that you can use in your design

  • you will be able to assemble and prepare a piece for the kiln

  • You will have started to understand firing and have writing your first kiln schedule

    You will have learnt some ways to finish and present your work and put some of those into practise on your own piece.

the 2 day workshop can be taken on consecutive days or on split days. It’s up to you. Each day starts at 9.30am and finishes by 5pm.  a lovely sandwich lunch is included on each day as well as many drinks and cake as you desire!

The studio is based at my home in Crowborough, East Sussex and is fully equipped with everything that you will need to make beautiful work.

Crowborough is on the edge of  the Ashdown Forest which is an ancient area of open heathland occupying the highest sandy ridge-top of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s claim to fame is that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle the author who bought the world Sherlock Holmes was a former resident but he’s not our only celebrity (not that you’ll bump into anyone) Crowborough is 7 miles (11 km) south-west of Royal Tunbridge Wells and 35 miles (56 km) south of London. It has road and rail links  It is the most populous inland village in East Sussex,


Cancellation terms:

More than 28 days before the workshop – 90% refund or you can transfer to another date without incurring any costs.

Between 28 and 8 days in advance a 50% refund will be given.

Within 7 days, on the day of the workshop or once the workshop has started – for whatever reason – no refunds are available.

In all cases you may pass your place onto another person before the workshop has started without incurring any loss 

Cancellation of any class incurs a 10% admin fee of the total cost of the class. There are no exceptions to this.

It is the responsibility of each person to follow health and safety instructions. This is for your own safety and that of everyone else in the studio. Anyone disregarding health and safety instructions after being reminded of them may be asked to leave the studio. No refunds will be offered in these circumstances.
